They said Saturday would be the busiest day, and they weren't kidding. There was hardly any room to maneuver around, there were probably ten photographers to every Cosplayer, and the Cosplayers were already getting cranky, some of them only going through the motions and not looking like they were having a good time anymore.
I did find an AMAZING Loki, who was still having loads of fun for the camera. Thanks, dude! :)
Loki, Spiderman, and Hawkeye were pretty prevalent throughout the Con, but I managed to find Waldo!!
Anyone remember The Tick? Spooooooon!!!!!
The lines for the food trucks are at least 30 people deep at each truck. These guys are going to make a killing during this Con!!
The sun has come out from behind the clouds and more Cosplayers have emerged from their hotel rooms. Two of which are STAR TREK!! Check out the mini-Silver Surfer, too!! What a cutie!
Crowded, crowded, crowded, and I was in the mood for something different. It's easy to get burned out at a Con, I suppose, especially if it's your first one. So, I found out that they give discounts for Disney to those staying at the hotel for a Convention, and I took advantage of it. The park was just a couple of blocks from the hotel, well within walking distance.
I had a good evening, ate some good food, and got stuck on the Haunted Mansion ride for quite some time as they tried to fix whatever the problem was that left me sitting in front of this guy:
The Con doesn't start until noon, but at 7am there were people lining up to get in. They already have their tickets, they're just waiting to GET IN! What?? They're going to wait FIVE HOURS?!
The food trucks are lined up, all prepping for the day, and those who aren't in line are wandering around trying to find something to eat that won't cut into their toy budget. Everyone looks a bit bleary-eyed and confused and Starbucks is pumping out the coffee by the bucketfull.
Already, photographers are milling around the main courtyard of the Convention Center near the fountains, waiting for their first Cosplay participant. Me, I bought an egg/sausage bagel and an OJ and am back in my room. I ate half the sandwich and went to put the other half in the mini-fridge only to discover that it was turned off.
Arriving to WonderCon a day early allows you to beat the traffic, get a parking spot, and get your tickets before the crowd shows up. Well, the traffic was horrible due to construction on the 395, but I got a good parking spot at the hotel close to the elevator and I didn't have to wait in line at all for my tickets. I'm staying at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, a place where genius thinking isn't the norm. Don't believe me? Take a look above. This is where they obviously think the towels belong. I can't wait for the morning, so I can see if all of the guests are slightly damp upon leaving their room after not having any dry towels. Think I can just hang them up in bathroom? Think again. There are NO hooks or rods anywhere for that.
Upon arrival, I went to do my business, only to discover, to my horror, that the toilet paper was nowhere in sight! Thankfully, there was a box of tissues that had to suffice until I found the hidden toilet paper roll.
Bathroom failures aside, I wandered around the grounds of the hotel and eventually settled on the only food place that was still open, the Cafe Del Sol inside of the hotel. For the bargain price of $20, I had a yummy turkey burger and some fruit. Room service tacks on a 20% "service charge" and an additional $3.50 delivery charge. Like they have to get in a car and drive it somewhere?? So, it was cheaper to go to the restaurant.
I saw a guy who was hanging around the Convention Center and he was carrying a kick-ass Captain America shield. I mean, that thing looked professionally made! It gleamed in the light and I wanted to go over there and run my hands over it.
